This project is called "Intelligence Race Car", which requires to construct a car model that can autonomously identify the road at high speeds by using a designated microcontroller to control downstream sensors as the core control module. The project includes two types of intelligent automobiles: electromagnetic cars and camera cars. Both eventually won first prize in the Intelligent Car Race of Nanjing Agricultural University.
The electromagnetic cars could automatically trace the electromagnetic signal and detect elements such as three-way intersections and ramps. Camera cars used cameras to obtain road information and adopt distortion correction, PnP, perspective transformation, local threshold, and maze-searching algorithms for image processing. Both aimed to achieve high-speed image processing and complete tracking tasks on a low-performance single chip microcomputer.
